Removals to New Zealand

Your removal is only part of your move to New Zealand, so we have a bit of information to help you along the way, including New Zealand visas and getting settled in New Zealand.
Customs Clearance - It normally takes about 10 to 15 days for customs clearance and delivery. This can, of course, be impacted or changed by government policy, the inspection of goods, etc.
Packing & Delivery - Our specially trained removal men will pack and wrap your items to ensure that they are transported safely to your final destination.
Additional removal services – Should you require additional removal services when moving to New Zealand, we are authorised to provide comprehensive insurance, in addition to being able to arrange international storage or pet transport.
Prohibitions and Restrictions
In general it is in your interest not to import the following items:
- Firearms & ammunition
- Inflammable goods & substances
- Plants & plant material
- Foodstuffs, perishables or otherwise
- Narcotics and dangerous goods
- Offensive materials
- Alcohol & Tobacco
Moving your household goods to New Zealand
Your household goods can usually be imported duty free into New Zealand if you've owned them for at least 12 months prior to being imported. An inventory is required to move your belongings, and we'll provide you with the correct customs forms to be completed prior to export. Don't forget - you'll also need to have a valid visa or passport which entitles you to residence in New Zealand.
New Zealand removal transit times
Groupage or shared load consignments usually take eight to 14 weeks door-to-door. This can vary depending on volumes being shipped, customs or immigration delays and weather conditions. Containers for sole use usually take six to eight weeks port-to-port, with weekly service to all major ports in New Zealand.
Moving your pets to New Zealand
We can recommend a specialised shipper of animals to assist you in sending your family pets to your new home in New Zealand. They will coordinate all documentation and necessary veterinary procedures, to help your pet have a reduced-stress experience in moving abroad.

In the current times you might prefer that we don't visit your house in person to carry out a survey. This is fully understandable and we can just as easily undertake the survey by video call, using whatever method you're comfortable with, usually FaceTime or WhatsApp.

Darren and the team arrived on 16th October to start the packing and removal process, which was completed on 18th. Our domestic situation had been frustrated by a call only two days earlier to tell us that our proposed house purchase in Harrogate had fallen through. This greatly altered the amount of stuff that we could send for longer term storage, and we were still revising our arrangements when your team arrived.
So we (Pamela and me, and our sons, Simon and Richard) were doubly appreciative of the friendly and helpful manner that prevailed from start to finish. We enjoyed their company and we were very grateful for the spirit in which they went about their work.
The other part of the ‘acid test’ is the manner and condition in which our possessions are off-loaded when we finally take possession of our next home. But the whole process got off to a first class start.
